Hi Erik,

Well all together the project probably cost me about $300CDN. I bought all the parts off of ebay, and just needed the four main pieces. The tail, drivers seat, passengers seat, and tail light. I then also purchased an undertail kit to match the tail section. This was also purchased from ebay.

The rear tail pretty much just slid right on. I had to drill a few holes into the subframe to mount it. I had one person hold the tail at a set position while I marked the holes. The drivers seat with this mod can't actually be bolted down after, but it fits quite snug so I never worried about it.

The rear seat bracket needed some slight modification and two bolts had to be placed underneath (mounted to cross bar of subframe underneath) to adjust for clearance issues. The key slot can be moved without modification. It just simply bolts up to the new hole.

An undertail kit mounts just as easy. You'll need to file off a few sections to get around some things like the shcok resevoir mount. Pretty simple stuff again. Just mark out the spots with a marker and file some of the fiberglass off. It's real easy.

You cannot mount those silly passenger grab handles afterwards, there is no spot for mounting them. So I just plastered some decals over the unsightly holes.

The tail light requires you to make a couple of brackets. I simply bent some flat bar material, and drilled some holes in the appropriate spots to make it sit the way I wanted. This part was trial and error and a bit time consuming.

I did pretty much all of these mounts with smaller flathead screws which I picked up at an automotive store.

The bottom line here is this..... if you're confident in your mechanical skills and are patient, this really isn't to much of a job. I can't remember exact details since I did this about 3 years ago and have worked on alot of bikes since. But if you do have more questions, just ask. I have no problems with helping out a fellow rider and enthusiast. And you're right, the tail section of the ZX600F is kind of big and ugly.

When your done you will also have about 5 pounds of unnecessary stock hardware left over!
